The short version: we don't sell your data.

Privacy
Policy

Effective June 5, 2026

This Policy explains what Ready to Die LLC ("Ready to Die," "we," "us") collects when you use readytodie.rip and our related products (the "Services"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We do not sell, rent, or distribute your personal data. Full stop.

1. The promise

  • We do not sell your personal data. Ever.
  • We do not rent or distribute it to data brokers, advertisers, or anyone else.
  • We do not use your Vault content, documents, or personal information to train AI models.
  • We only share data with the specific service providers we need to run the Services — and only what they need.

2. What we collect

We collect only what's needed to provide the Services.

Information you give us:

  • Account details: name, email, password (hashed), and any profile info you add.
  • Planning content: answers you provide in our document tools (will, trust, etc.), beneficiary and executor information, and other estate planning details.
  • Vault content: messages, videos, letters, photos, files, and recipient contact info you upload for post-death delivery.
  • Payment information: processed by our payment processor (we do not store full card numbers).
  • Support communications: messages you send us.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, timestamps, and similar diagnostic info.
  • Device & log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies & similar tech: for sign-in sessions, security, and basic analytics. We don't use cross-site advertising trackers.

3. How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Services.
  • Generate the documents and deliver the Vault content you've configured.
  • Authenticate you and protect your account.
  • Process payments and prevent fraud.
  • Send service-related communications (receipts, security alerts, check-ins, important updates).
  • Provide customer support.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your personal data, planning content, or Vault content for advertising or to train machine-learning models.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal data only with vetted service providers who help us run the Services, and only the data they need. These include:

  • Cloud hosting & database providers (to store your account and content securely).
  • Payment processors (to charge your card and handle billing).
  • Email and SMS providers (to send transactional messages and Vault deliveries).
  • Identity verification providers (where required for document execution or death confirmation).
  • Customer support and error-monitoring tools.

We also share information when you direct us to (such as delivering Vault content to recipients you designated), when required by law (subpoena, court order, lawful government request), to protect rights, safety, or property, or in connection with a business transaction (merger, acquisition, sale of assets), in which case successors must honor this Policy or notify you.

5. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, hashed passwords, role-based access controls, and regular security review. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously — your end-of-life information deserves it.

If we ever experience a data breach that affects you, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

6. Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Vault content is retained until you delete it, until it is delivered to designated recipients, or per the retention rules you configure.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep it (e.g., financial records).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, email rip@readytodie.rip. We'll respond within the time required by applicable law.

"Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information": We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there's nothing to opt out of — but you can always email us to confirm.

8. Death of an account holder

The Services are explicitly designed to function after your death. Vault content is delivered to the recipients and on the triggers you configured. Beyond that, legitimate legal representatives of your estate may request access to or deletion of your account data by contacting us with appropriate documentation.

9. Children

The Services are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. International users

Ready to Die is based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be transferred outside your home country. We use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers as required by law.

11. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies for essential functions (keeping you signed in, security, fraud prevention) and basic, privacy-respecting analytics that help us understand how the Services are used in aggregate. We do not use cross-site advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you (e.g., by email or in-product notice) before they take effect. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
